It gives extra protection to the system in case of failures on load side. ACDB is made up of breaker, isolators, voltage and current monitoring etc.

In grid tie projects where your solar plant is connected to the grid as well under the process of net metering - the ACDB also gives added protection to the solar inverter in the form of restricting any surges coming from the grid that may damage the inverter.
